Ministry of External Affairs begins nominations for Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award 2025

The Ministry of External Affairs, India has begun the nomination process for the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award 2025 as part of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) to be held in early 2025.

The Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA) is the highest honor conferred on overseas Indians.

USCIS is on the verge of implementing fee hikes across the board

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is on the verge of implementing significant changes to its fee structure. The latest update from the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) indicates that the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) completed its USCIS Final Fee Rule review on January 19, 2024. The final rule, which contains substantial increases in immigration fees, was received by OIRA on January 8, 2024.

Uganda President praises Indian diaspora's role in economic growth at NAM Summit

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni expressed admiration for the substantial contributions of Indian returnees to his country's economic development, during the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Kampala. Commending their achievements, he highlighted the 900 factories built by Indian returnees since their arrival.

"I was asking people how many factories have been built by our Indian returnees. They told me about the 900 factories that they had built since they came back.", he said.

Canada Cap on International Student Visas to impact Indian Students in 2025

Canada will reduce the number of new international student permits by 35 per cent next year as part of a temporary two-year cap on foreign enrolment, Immigration Minister Marc Miller announced on January 22, 2024.

The cap is expected to result in 364,000 new approved permits in 2024. The 2025 limit on new applications will be reassessed at the end of this year. Nearly 560,000 such visas were issued last year.
