The Indian student community of Harvard University has a long-standing tradition of running the India Harvard Conference more than two decades.

This year on February 17th-18th, the India Harvard Conference witnessed a congregation of the best minds from India and the Indian Diaspora who exchanged thoughts and ideas around the theme of “India Rising”.

The theme “India Rising” was chosen with the intent to demonstrate India’s ascent into a country of significance globally, whether it is with regards to geopolitics, business, or culture.

Dr. Samir Shah confirmed as the first Indian-origin chairman of BBC

Dr. Samir Shah, a 72-year-old media veteran in the UK, has been confirmed to take charge as the first Indian-origin Chair of the British public service broadcaster, BBC starting from March 4 and running until March 2028. His renumeration will be 160,000 pounds per year.

Dr. Shah is a celebrated India-born media executive with over 40 years of experience in UK broadcasting. He is the first Indian-origin person to assume the role at BBC.

Air India launches new Ad highlighting India’s cultural diversity and heritage

Air India, the flag carrier airline of India, has unveiled a new advertisement named “Safe Mudras” highlighting the cultural diversity and heritage of India uniquely infusing them with safety video instructions.

Air India was founded in 1932 (as Tata Airlines) that grew into the flagship international airline of India.

Seattle Cop who ran over Indian Student to face no criminal charges

The Seattle cop, Kevin Dave, who ran over Indian student Jaahnvi Kandula is facing no criminal charges due to lack of “sufficient” evidence. Jaahnavi Kandula was a 23-year-old Indian student and was killed after being hit by a speeding police vehicle in the US state of Washington on January 23, 2023.

 After a year of legal battles, court proceedings, statements from both the Indian and US governments, and calls for accountability, the police officer behind the wheels of the vehicle is allowed to go free.

Yale astrophysicist Priyamvada Natarajan elected as Fellow of American Astronomical Society

Priyamvada Natarajan, a Yale theoretical astrophysicist who works to map the unseen universe, has been elected a fellow of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) for her groundbreaking work in dark matter and black hole physics.

AAS announced the election of 21 new fellows on Feb. 1, 2024 in recognition of the Ms. Natarajan’s work to enhance humanity’s scientific understanding of the universe.
